Shinigami & Hollow weapons

  • Shinigami build a Zanpakutō from Guard / Handle / Hilt parts; the weapon's identity comes from your Shikai, so a fixed tier list is still being finalized.
  • Hollow / Arrancar weapons unlock after Vasto Lorde and vary by Resurrección type.

For overall power rankings see the full tier list, and pair your weapon with a strong skill tree.

VV: ULTIMATUM VV: ULTIMATUM Weapon Tier List — FAQ

What is the best weapon in VV: ULTIMATUM?

The Sword is the best Quincy Spirit Weapon — S-tier with no real weakness, making it the top beginner pick. Spear and Longsword are A-tier for extra range.

How many weapons can Quincy use in VV: ULTIMATUM?

Quincy choose from eight Spirit Weapons: Sword, Spear, Longsword, Greatsword, Hammer, Club, Rifle and Rapier.

How to pick your Quincy weapon

Your Quincy Spirit Weapon shapes your whole moveset, so choose deliberately. The Sword is the safest pick: balanced range, speed and damage with no glaring weakness, which is why it tops the tier list and suits new players. If you want to play around spacing, the Spear and Longsword trade a little damage for extra reach — strong in open zones like the Human World where you can keep distance. The slower Greatsword, Hammer and Club hit hard and break posture but punish whiffs, so they reward players confident in their parry reads. Rifle and Rapier sit lowest: Rifle has range but weak damage, and Rapier is fast but light.

Can you change your weapon later?

Weapon choice matters because re-specing is not free or instant — aim to settle on your main early so you can master its combos and parry windows. Whatever you pick, pair it with a strong skill tree: Quincy + Speed is the go-to for ranged builds, while Strength suits the heavier weapons. For full stat, clan and charm pairings, see the recommended Quincy build. Shinigami and Hollow players don't use Spirit Weapons — Shinigami build a Zanpakutō around their Shikai, and Hollow weapons come from their Resurrección.

Pairing your weapon with a skill tree

A weapon is only as good as the build around it. The all-round Sword pairs naturally with a Quincy + Speed setup for flexible, low-risk play. The longer Spear and Longsword reward a spacing style, so they like Speed for repositioning and kiting in open zones. The heavy Greatsword, Hammer and Club scale best with the Strength tree, which leans into weapon damage and posture break to punish the parries those slow swings can bait. Whatever you pick, keep Reserves up so your kit stays online, and roll a Kurosaki clan to push weapon damage. Full setups are on the builds page, and the overall rankings are on the tier list.

Weapon mechanics: light, heavy, posture and range

Every weapon shares the same core mechanics, and understanding them is how you pick the right one. Light attacks (M1) are fast pokes for building pressure; heavy attacks (M3) hit harder and do more posture damage but are slower and easier to parry. Breaking an opponent's posture opens them to a big punish, which is why heavy, posture-focused weapons like the Greatsword, Hammer and Club can be deadly against players who block predictably. Range is the other axis: the Spear and Longsword keep enemies at bay, while the Sword balances reach and speed.

That's the logic behind the tier list. The Sword is S-tier because it has no glaring weakness; the long weapons are A-tier for spacing; the heavy weapons sit B-tier — strong but punishable if you whiff; and the light Rifle and Rapier fall to C for low damage. Pair your weapon with a matching skill tree (Strength for heavies, Speed for spacing), keep Reserves up, and roll a Kurosaki clan to push weapon damage. Full setups are on the builds page.
