How parrying works in VV: ULTIMATUM

Parrying is the core combat mechanic. Hold/tap M2 to block, and time it to parry incoming attacks. There are two advanced parry windows to read:

Green parry

A clean, well-timed parry that staggers the attacker and opens them up.

Orange parry

A tighter/perfect window with a stronger reward — master it for duels and bosses.

Practice parry timing on the tutorial boss Gelum before heading into PvP zones. Heavy weapons like the Greatsword have long reach but are slow, so parrying beats them hard.

VV: ULTIMATUM VV: ULTIMATUM Controls — FAQ

How do you parry in VV: ULTIMATUM?

Press M2 (right click) to block, and time it against incoming attacks to parry. There are green (clean) and orange (perfect) parry windows, each with stronger rewards.

What is the Flash Step key in VV: ULTIMATUM?

Flash Step (Shunpo) is Q. Dash is Space, and you meditate or transform with L depending on your faction.

Advanced combat tips

Beyond the basic keybinds, a few combat habits separate strong VV: ULTIMATUM players from the rest. Mix light attacks (M1) and heavy attacks (M3) to vary your timing and bait parries from your opponent. Use Flash Step (Q) to close gaps or escape after a parry, and manage your Shunpo stamina — traits and clans that boost it (like Wings or Murcielago) noticeably improve your mobility. Heavy weapons such as the Greatsword have long reach but slow start-up, so against them, hold your parry and punish the recovery.

Mobile and controller

VV: ULTIMATUM is playable on mobile through Roblox's on-screen controls, but there is no confirmed official remap document yet, and some players find the tighter parry windows harder on touch. The in-game control list is the source of truth if a keybind changes in an update. If you're learning the game, PC with mouse and keyboard gives you the cleanest access to the green and orange parry timings that the whole combat system is built around. Practice those windows on the tutorial boss Gelum before stepping into the Arctic PvP zone.

Reading the parry colours

The whole combat system rewards reading attacks, and the parry colours are your cue. A green parry is a clean, correctly-timed block: it staggers the attacker and opens a punish window. An orange parry is a tighter, near-perfect window that rewards a stronger follow-up — worth practising for duels and bosses. Mistime it and you eat the hit, so against unfamiliar enemies it's safer to hold a normal block and look for the green window first.

Layer in movement: cancel pressure with Dash (Space), reposition with Flash Step (Q), and watch your Shunpo stamina so you're not caught out of resources. Equip and stow your weapon with X, and use Sense (C) to track nearby players before a Human World fight. Drill all of this on the tutorial boss Gelum before heading into PvP.

Keybind cheat sheet by role

It helps to group the controls by what you're doing. Moving: WASD to walk, Space to dash, Q for Flash Step (manage your Shunpo stamina). Attacking: M1 light, M3 heavy, X to draw or stow your weapon, E to interact. Defending: M2 to block and parry — the single most important key in the game. Utility: M opens the skill tree, C is Sense, U summons a faction portal, and L meditates as a Shinigami or transforms as a Hollow.

A few quality-of-life tips: keep your weapon stowed while traveling so you don't accidentally swing, buy Sense early to spot enemies before a fight, and practise mixing light and heavy attacks so opponents can't predict your parry timing. If a keybind ever changes in an update, the in-game control list is the source of truth.
